Cardinia Men’s Shed proudly partnered with Victoria Police Legacy to create handcrafted wooden rocking horses in memory of four fallen police officers. Each horse was donated to the children and grandchildren of the officers as a lasting tribute of care and remembrance.

A Tribute with Purpose
In response to the tragic loss of four Victoria Police officers in 2020, Cardinia Men’s Shed felt compelled to honour their memory in a way that was both personal and lasting. Recognising the deep impact the loss had on the officers’ families, the Shed members unanimously voted to create one handcrafted wooden rocking horse each year over four years.
These toys would not only be a heartfelt gift to the children and grandchildren left behind but also serve as a symbol of ongoing support, remembrance, and respect from the wider community. Each rocking horse was built with care, reflection, and craftsmanship — offering something meaningful during a time of grief and showing the families they are not alone.

This special project brought together a group of passionate and skilled members from Cardinia Men’s Shed who committed themselves to creating something truly significant. Every stage of the process, from design and timber selection to construction, detailing, and final presentation, was completed with precision and pride.
More than just a woodworking task, this project was an act of collective care, driven by a shared purpose to give back and honour those who serve. The Shed worked closely with Victoria Police Legacy and local officers to ensure each rocking horse was not only beautifully crafted but deeply meaningful. The finished pieces now serve as treasured keepsakes for the families, representing kindness, connection, and the enduring strength of community.
